"Being happy doesn't mean that everything is perfect. It means that you have decided to look beyond the imperfections."
~Author Unknown
Sometimes my life isn't perfect. Actually it's rarely perfect. I feel like I work too much, spend too little time with my son, and have way too much of the world on my shoulders. I don't make a lot of money and I've been single so long I don't even remember what it feels like to be taken out on a date. My Friday night date is a bowl of popcorn shared between the little guy and I, while he watches another episode of Mickey Mouse.
However, seeing him smile and the little giggle that escapes his lips is better than any date I've ever been on. And I might not make a lot of money but I make enough to put dinner on the table, pay our rent, send him to a nice preschool, and have a little bit left over.
There are times when things just aren't going my way. My life gets out of control and I wish I could just push pause. However, when things are calm and I hear the imagination and the laughter coming from my son's room, I think that this is happiness.

Great post, Holly. A positive outlook goes a LONG way! I think happiness is deciding to be grateful for what you have despite the circumstances...same idea behind the quote at the beginning of your post. Thanks for reminding me today to stay positive and smile - after all, nothing is permanent, especially not those sticky situations where you feel you're in a rut. It will all pass.
Cheers!
